NZ’s Meikayla Moore scores hat-trick of own goals as USWNT cruise to victory

New Zealand protector Meikayla Moore scored three objectives – for the US ladies’ public group – as the Americans won 5-0 on Sunday in the second round of matches in the SheBelieves Cup.

The US, who drew with the Czech Republic 0-0 in their competition opener on Thursday, got all the assistance they required on account of Moore’s own objectives in the fifth, 6th and 36th minutes. The US took over from that point. Ashley Hatch made it 4-0 in the 51st with a header that was set-up by Sofia Huerta, and Mallory Pugh scored in the third moment of final part stoppage time.Moore’s bad dream began early when she attempted to prevent a cross from Sophia Smith yet rather diverted the ball into her own net. A moment later, Catarina Macario’s header was going wide until it looked off Moore’s head. Her unenviable full go-around was finished after Margaret Purce’s cross from the conservative. Moore stood out her foot to clear the ball, yet again it turned out badly. She was subbed four minutes later. The 25-year-old is an accomplished player and has 48 covers for New Zealand. She finished paperwork for Liverpool in 2020.

Sunday was whenever the USWNT first had been the recipient of three own objectives in a game.

With the triumph, the US stretched out their home unbeaten streak to 64 matches. Alyssa Naeher made one put something aside for the US, who have not permitted an objective on home soil in almost two years. They keep going yielded an objective on 11 March 2020, in a 3-1 win over Japan in the last match of the SheBelieves Cup. From that point forward, they’ve kept a program-record 16 straight home shutouts.

The competition wraps up Wednesday in Frisco, Texas, when New Zealand play the Czech Republic before Iceland and the US meet.
